Some people are naturally drawn to teaching. Attar Chalif has always been one of them.

Long before entering financial planning, Attar pictured himself someday teaching in a college classroom. He loved the idea of taking complicated subjects, making them understandable, and helping people develop the confidence to think for themselves. His classroom ultimately ended up looking a little different than he imagined, but the teacher never went away. Today, education remains at the heart of how Attar works: help people understand first, so they can make informed decisions for themselves.

As a Financial Advisor with Cornerstone Financial Group, LLC, Attar helps individuals, families, and business owners build financial plans where every recommendation has a purpose. From retirement and estate planning to tax considerations, risk management, business planning, and legacy strategies, his goal is to make sure each decision supports the life his clients are trying to build. The plan should be about more than growing a portfolio; every piece should have a purpose.

Attar believes the best planning is collaborative. He regularly works alongside attorneys, CPAs, bankers, and other professionals, bringing together different perspectives and areas of expertise when the situation calls for them.

Relationships have shaped Attar’s career from the beginning. He built his practice one relationship at a time, with much of its growth coming through introductions from clients and professional partners who trust him with people important to them. For Attar, that trust is never something to take for granted. It’s something to continually earn.

His work means a great deal to him, but the role Attar has wanted the longest is a much more personal one.

When he was ten years old, Attar watched Danny Kaye’s The Five Pennies for the first time. Something about the film stuck with him: it made him dream about someday becoming a father. That dream became one of the great ambitions of his life and, in many ways, the source of the drive behind everything else.

Today, Attar and his wife, Christine, are raising their daughter, Guenevere, affectionately known as “The Smoosh.” Every night, Attar sings her the same lullaby from The Five Pennies that captured his imagination all those years ago.

When he’s home, there’s considerably less financial planning. You’re much more likely to find him on the floor with The Smoosh, playing, roughhousing, laughing, and trying to keep up with her enormous personality. It’s a life he first imagined as a ten-year-old boy watching an old Danny Kaye movie; today, he gets to live it.
For Attar, that’s a pretty good definition of success.
